The Art Institute of Las Vegas Review: Housing Transportation

I felt the need to post about the transportation to and from student housing.  Student housing about 3.5 miles away from the school.  It can be about a 10 minute drive if one hits mostly red lights along the way or a walk that takes about an hour.

The school has a vehicle that transports students to and from school.  It does this Monday - Friday in the mornings before classes, at lunch hour, and the dinner hour between afternoon & night classes.  Sounds nice.

(This massive vehicle only seats 9 students)

The fault here?  Students who live in housing and have night classes have to wait until 11:30 P.M. (when the school closes) to get a ride back to housing, unless they are willing to walk or can find a ride with a student who has a car.  There is no transportation at 10:00 when the night classes are finished.  This is detrimental to the student's morale and well-being, especially if the student has a morning class.

Another factor to consider is the fact that the transportation does not operate on Saturday.  The school offers morning and afternoon classes on Saturdays.  If you live in housing and you don't have your own vehicle, you must conjure up your own transportation or make the walk.  This walk, however, would be difficult if you had to check out equipment and needed to carry it on the walk.

If you choose to live in Housing, make sure you know everything about it before you do.  I almost did when I moved to Las Vegas to attend AILV.  When I was told that I couldn't have alcohol, I decided to live elsewhere.  And don't email the email contact the AILV Housing Webpage has listed - that guy hasn't worked there for over a year.
